写后台是programming，写底层是programming，做data science在我看来也是
programming。Programming功夫练好了，其实做啥都可以。如果不是混吃等死
我觉得programmer不应该把自己定位为某种特定类型的programming。
但是我这个观点对我参加比赛有非常大的阻碍作用。就是我重头到尾都在追求
代码在设计上的优化和可重用性，最后花了大量力气打包测试。事实证明这些
effort其实对比赛P用没有。如果你们去看目前公布出来的代码，只有我那个
版本是普通人下载了下去可以直接在自己的机器上跑的。
然后就是这个比赛我和我LD都花了非常大的力气。最后没拿到钱只能说是
技不如人。我那个PhD是一半图像处理+一半machine learning。我LP是
生物医学machine learning专家。这次就是冲着领奖金去的。所以我觉得
拿我们出来做例子没有代表性。不过做quant的确实脑子好使，轻松秒
我们做CS和biology的。

发帖数: 5958 | 2 起个主贴把则个问题讲讲透。一般来说不可能写出一个各方面全优的算法。
比如速度，占用内存，精度一般不能同时做到最优。精度有各种评价方法，
一般也不能同时做到最优。所有这些方面构成一个design space。软件设
计的时候一般就是选design space的一个子空间，然后允许用户通过调整
(meta)参数来微调子空间中的位置。这个子空间的形状一般不是规则的，
参数一般也不是正交的。参数之间的各种关系可能连作者本人都未必想清
楚了。比如有时候程序写着写着会出来一个可以加参数的位置，然后就
出来一个参数。而且这种参数往往很多，一般会被命名为alpha,beta,
gamma,delta,eta,lambda等等，因为含义作者也没法用一两个英文字母
说清（有例外，比如regularization权重一般也是希腊字母)。
Grid search的问题是，很可能就碰到了那种作者都没有想清楚的奇葩
combination，这个combination恰好在用户的某个评价标准下(比如AUC)
高了0.001，但是在别的标准下差得比较多(比如accuracy差0.01,

做不准就是应该全都predict成0 accuracy最高。xgboost里经常能训练出来
全是0的model。但是那样对positive的recall就是0。Balance了以后能提高
recall，但是accuracy就会降低。
实际dataset可能会不一样。

out-performing microarray from any angle.
Affy's isoform array has been in market for > 6 years. But only a few
reports found some thing using that platform.
I also heard some negative views on NGS for isoforms. I guess maybe the

The requirement has been changed to match with NPD categories, so it became
supervised learning.
I used hand coded dictionary of keywords and hand labeled items. The model
used was decision tree, with two stages: first filter out irrelevant items (
90% accuracy), then assign labels (82% accuracy).
The good thing is that this can be iterative: we can improve the dictionary
using the confusion matrix, and then repeat until high accuracy is achieved.

比如我的model的accuracy是0.85， 同时得到这样的feature importance：
Importance
Feature-1 0.25
Feature-2 0.09
Feature-3 0.08
明显Feature-1是最重要的；所以我就把Feature-1 除去，用剩下的feature计算，
我发现哪怕去除了Feature-1，accuracy还有0.79
我其实不是很懂feature importance的算法，只是觉得比如Feature-1应该贡献了25%的
，所以去掉Feature-1后model accuracy应该大大降低，但为何还是有0.79呢？
是不是因为这就是ensemble的优势？依赖于各种weak feature的集合？所以去掉重要
feature也不那么sensitive？ |

Honda has decided to settle a class-action lawsuit that alleges its
odometers were racking up miles too fast. The automaker says odometers on
some 6 million Hondas affected by the suit were accurate to within 3.75% on
the high side.
The lawsuit also prompted lawyers to test the odometer accuracy of other
vehicles. It was found that on average domestic vehicles were nearly perfect
in their odo accuracy, while Toyotas actually racked up fewer miles on the
