首先，大学是一个行政单位，大家平常强调publication，funding，teaching，甚至
service，很容易给自己一个错觉就是我是完全独立运行在学术界的一个个体。上面说
了benefits和cost，我觉得差不多等同于constructive还是destructive的问题。你个
人的存在，对这个群体必须要有建设作用，而且这个建设要outshine你的破坏作用如果
有的话。funding只是一方面，毕竟大部分还是给你花了。你也许比其他老师都优秀一
些，但一个人的力量永远都不及一个和谐运作的团体对社会的贡献更大。
常见一些新秀们和老人比publication， 比钱，认为老人们都干不动了什么的。我们系
有一个老人，知道人家默默干了多少事，应付ABET, 辅导了学生和实验课，为我们挡了
多少外界的子弹和大粪吗？他要是撂担子，让我们新人平分，还想像现在这样focus on
research？每个星期都要去senate坐班，讨论一些版上大部分人都认为是没用浪费时

，申请经费等等。search committee很容易用一个理由打压你，那就是你没有美国
education的经历，对美国的education system可能不了解，比如ABET；另外还有
teaching skills、communication skills，所以还是要有针对性的积累，build up
your CV is the key。

3。一个local大公司，和公司里的人合作过项目，公司头头来实验室参观过。
4。一个teaching为主的不入流的大学。
结果首先跟跨共公司联系，给头大电话，聊了1个小时吧。他说他们必须intern，然后招
人。但是俺们学校跟他们没这种intern关系。说把我名告诉管intern的人那去了，今年初
招intern的时候再告诉我。后来一直没消息 ：（
跟那个教授书信来往甚多，状态active。
给local公司头直接发简历，过了2-3个礼拜给了个面试，2个组面试我。后来又看中他们
另一个地方的lab，有去lab参观（就算面试）了。3个地方都给了offer,lab最好，很动心
