There are six different analog video formats: VHS, SVHS, VHS-C, SVHS-C, 8mm,
and Hi-8, and three digital video formats: DV, MiniDV, and D8. All formats
differ in their video resolution, recording times, and compatibility. MiniDV,
for example, uses a uniquely sized videotape, D8 records on standard 8mm video
tape, and some D8 camcorders can play back analog 8mm and Hi-8 tapes.
2. Resolution
If video quality is paramount, choose a camcorder with high resolution.
