Dear dbmj,
Thank you for contacting the Apple Store. We have received your return
request.
Shortly, if you haven't received it yet, you'll be receiving an email*
from FedEx explaining how to access and print out the Apple-paid return
label (to affix to your shipping box). If you weren't aware of this
option, call 800-MY-APPLE to request one. Please ensure that your
return is securely packed as well. You'll also need to either deliver
the package to a FedEx location, or arrange for a pickup at yours. If
you prefer, you can use the Order Status page to print out a standard
shipping label which you can use to send your return back to Apple via
a shipping firm of your choice. However, in this case, you'll be
responsible for associated shipping costs.
Once your return has been received and processed at the Apple Returns
Center, your refund will be initiated. Credit card refunds process
within 5 business days of Apple receiving the product and Apple Gift
Card payments are refunded within 8 business days. Cash payments are
refunded in the form of a check which will be mailed to you within 30
days.
By the way, if you're returning an Apple iPhone, it's important that you
contact your wireless service provider to cancel your service. Returning
an iPhone to Apple does not cancel your wireless service. You may still
be responsible for other carrier-related charges.

more information or you can call us at 800-MY-APPLE if you wish to speak
with someone in person.
