Finished the last part of “Young Ludwig” on Christmas day. The reading itself is a spiritual journey for me, a pilgrimage. In a sense, it couldn’t be more meaningful to happen at this time, when the birth of a savior brings joy to the faithful of whom I am not one, I can also come under my own type of light. I am like one of the shepherds, heart bathed in ecstasy upon hearing the good news. The ecstasy comes from courage, and perhaps some wisdom as well. To someone from the Anglo-American tradition, there is something queer in
the intellectual development of Ludwig: His work on logic intertwined deeply
with his searching for a moral stand for his person in this world. For him,
logic and life always, and have to, go hand in hand. When the problem of
one cannot be solved, the other neither.
Ludwig has been loyal all through his life to what he had learnt from
