of it from his
earlier years in Germany and Italy. Altogether there are
some 27
suits, plus an exteremely large number of shorter pieces,
many of them dance
movments and written-out improvisations.
Suits in D Minor and E majorone has perfect written examples
of Handel's
improvisational skills. There tends to be a thematic linkage
of Allemande and Courante, two of the standard dances of
