After you sit down at a table to start a play session, do you clearly setup
an exit plan to walk away? It can be things like a buy-in limit, time limit
, profit limit, or a combination.
If I just go with the flow, I will end up playing until really tired, which
mostly likely end up a losing session :(
This is rarely mentioned in Hold’em books. Maybe it is a more personal
preference. But I think this will significantly impact the player’s bottom
line as well as playing psycho.

as long as you think you have a clear mind and not emotional, you can play
IMO.

I stopped after I lost 3-4 buy-ins.
I'm still thinking about if setting a profit target is good.
Sometimes I was up like 3-4 buy-ins in just 300 hands, I know I should keep
playing, but sometimes I'll just lose the profit back and it doesn't feel
good.

same here.
for me, a target could go either way, sometimes it keeps me under control
when i do well, while other times, the idea of "profit" gets too deep into
my head when i play on a boring day and i lose an easy heart.

i used to be like that before... but a few times when i was down 1-2 buy-ins
, i "remember" the other "lucky" times i lost about the same, re-bought one
more and came back big... hehe, i know, that's how every gambler/loser/
addictive thinks like too.

setting a profit target should be good since the wind of luck could turn.

well, just think in this way, if you don't lose the profit back today,
you may lose it back next time.

hehe, true. every time i got some profit in my pocket, on the way back, i
always have this thought in my head, "do i just temporarily keep it until
next time..."
once you're poked, you'll always be, hard to stop/quit/let it be...

Thanks for all the sharing. No doubt we should only play when the mind is
still clear. It is just difficult to nail down to one clear sign if it is
still clear.
Ok, here are the 3 triggers I can think of:
1. Preferable one buy-in only. At most 2 buy-ins.
2. Preferably within 2 hours. At most 4 hours.
3. Be happy with one time buy-in profit. Definitely with 2 times buy-in
profit.
Here is the hardest thing to do: walk-away when any one of these triggers
hit!!! I will give it a try and try h

the key is to be objective I think. If I can always play in an objective way,
I can actually make my loss in losing sessions much smaller. That's why
I just want to play in a limit that I don't care whether I win or lose.

good point!
I usually play 1.5hour-2hours. I am using a alarm to remind me. and put a
stop loss of 4-buy-in for one day.
