1:30 p.m. -- O&R repair crews are working to restore electric service to
nearly 24,000 of the 54,000 customers whose power had been interrupted
yesterday by a destructive winter storm that dumped more than two feet of
heavy, wet snow in some areas, toppled dozens of trees, rendered many roads
impassable, forced states of emergency in Orange and Sullivan counties and
brought normal daily life in the area to a virtual standstill.
O&R crews will be continuing to make
