ASH: Within six months of starting, Bauhaus started getting the black-wearing
audience and seeing the kids dressing up like us. We used to call them the
androgynous space demons. Or the wildebeests.
ASTBURY: It's been treated as a joke by so many people, but the kids who dress
that way are very serious about it. To them, it is otherworldly. But people
have been dressing like this for tens of thousands of years; primal man used
