现在好像听说installation cost不如solar module本身的cost跌得快，这样的话我觉
得这个行业的成本能不能降到和传统能源相当可能要看installation那部分了。我算起
来，如果能降到$1.5(modole)+$1.5(installation)/W，并且能够可靠工作25年的话，
就已经可以在一些地区成为有吸引力的投资了。谁了解installation cost到底包括些
什么？Laputa有研究么？ |

reduce cost by economy of scale. That's why I always suspect that solar
panel cannot achieve grid parity at the end. I do not have a specific number
for installation cost. I roughtly remember it's still larger than $2/W.
Anybody have the data of the current installation cost ? |

is close to $2. At 2007, the module cost may be $4-$5. Adding up other costs

$2/W installation looks very promising to me.
I'm just wondering why this installation cost is so high. What component
makes it so expensive? Electrical connections like wiring and soldering?
Human labor? If that is the case, the installation cost in China should be
significantly lower than in US or Europe, but sadly the electricity in China
is also much cheaper.

put moduels on steel racks. Steel racks actually cost quite much. |

The good thing about the supporting material cost is that it can probably
well maintain its value over time, if the material is still usable after 100
years with minimal maintanance. This way it actually doesn't weigh against
the break-even line of solar energy as much as it appears to be.
