Microsoft is still running their Virtualization Challenge:

through the end of May, and part of the offer is a free voucher for the 70-
659 exam:

(Regular Microsoft exam price is $150):
"The Virtualization Challenge means that for a limited time, you can take
Exam 70-659: MCTS: Windows Server 2008 R2, Server Virtualization, at no cost
, from a Microsoft Learning Partner near you. If you pass, you've earned
your Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certification. If you
don't pass, you may enroll in a class offered by the Learning Partner to
acquire additional virtualization skills. Then retake the exam, free of
charge. What do you have to lose? Find a Learning Partner near you, and ask
to take the Virtualization Challenge."
Note that you CANNOT get the voucher online. You have to visit a Microsoft
Learning Partner (their is a link to find a local one on the offer page) and
request it. The idea is, if you do not pass the exam on the first shot,
they want to have your information so they can try to sell you one of their
training packages, and then you get a free second shot at the exam. There
doesn't seem to be any obligation to take the training, though.
Timeframe: You must redeem and TAKE the exam by 31 May 2012, so you've got
a solid 2 months maximum to study and sit for it. There are further details

I don't think MS Press has released a self-study guide for this exam yet,
but the 70-659 exam:
