Fenix is known for its superb build quality and great efficiency w/o the
sacrifice in output. One may think the price is too high for a flashlight;
wait until you get one and try it out. I promise you, you will never feel
safe with "lower-end" flashlights ever again (yes, Maglite inclusive!). You
can find reviews, beam shots, comparisons and more at candlepowerforums.co
m, home to the most knowledgeable and ecstatic flashaholics!!
In my opinion, the LD20 is the best price among them. It's up to date w/the
R5 bin which has better efficiency than the R4 counterpart w/o the sacrifice
of noticeable output. The LD15 and LD01 are also at great prices, far lower
than any retrieved via google shopping search. Although the LD10 is not
this year's R5 version, the performance difference from the R4 is relatively
minimal so it's also a great price. The only thing you may want to consider
is the where you like the spacing of the Low-Med-High modes on the R4 and
R5; turbo is virtually the same.
As with all high-powered LED flashlights, it is recommended to used
rechargeable NiMH batteries (like eneloop) or Lithium batteries due to
higher drain in higher modes.
