发帖数: 24 | 1 Yesterday I went on Boat Check Mate (Chris Fishing Trips) for salmon fishing
. This is third time I did it this year, the last 2 trips were with Randy’s
and came back empty handed. Yesterday was quite a different one, I caught 2
big salmons by 9am. One is 15 lb (about 30”) and another one is 20+ lb (32
”), they are the biggest fishes I ever caught. For me this is a good and
exciting experience, which fulfilled a little dream. I could catch more,
since I lost a few fishes and stopped fishing soon after catching my limit
due to sea sickness.
Salmon is a much better prize than Rocky fishes, and also harder to catch.
But the technique itself is not that difficult to learn at all. The biggest
difference between Salmon and Rocky Fish fishing is how to set the hook:
When salmon is biting the bait, you don’t yank or tug, that will pull the
hook out of the mouth of the fish. Since the circle barbless hook is
required for Mooching salmon fishing. Instead, when you see rod tapping,
just wait and fish will swallow the bait and start to run away. Then the
drag of the reel will pull the bait out of fish stomach, hopefully the
circle hook will catch the fish jaw. At this point fish is pulling the line
and you can start reel steady. In other words, let fish itself to set hook.
I know some of you in this club are also interested in salmon fishing. Easy
thing can be hard if you don’t have the first hand experience on it, it
sounds strange to me at beginning and took me 3 trips to learn it. So I like
to share this with you guys. Hope it can be helpful. Wish more of you catch

deep. You will go whatever the depth the fishes are, the Captain will issue
instructions and updates continuously and you just follow the Captain. Here
you have to count the line to reach the target depth and you don’t need to
do this for rocky fish fishing. Normally light to medium rods are used,
reels are conventional casting reels. Mono 20 lb main line tied to one end
of banana sinker (4 or 5oz) and 15 lb leader with single circle barbless
hook tied to another end of banana sinker.
