FRANK'S TRACT: Striped bass are in thick. Use topwater lures early
morning and late afternoon. Stripers weigh up to 20 pounds. Use pencil
poppers and Black Dog baits. Black-bass bite has slowed. 925-625-2441.
RIO VISTA: Sherman Island, Pittsburg, Honker Bay all hold stripers, most
commonly 25 feet deep. Montezuma Slough also has bass but is best on the

SALTWATER
BERKELEY: The El Dorado on Sunday had 15 halibut and 12 stripers for 16
anglers between Red Rock and Point Pinole. Rock-cod boats on the weekend
went to the islands for three-quarter limits to limits with a good

CAPITOLA: Anchovies are thick, but sardines are scarce around Capitola
Marina. From Capitola Wharf anglers get perch, skates and kingfish. Surf

EMERYVILLE: Farallon trips for rock cod get limits of rock fish and a
lot of lings. New Huck Finn on Sunday fished in San Pablo Bay and had 25

MONTEREY: Rock-cod trips come home early afternoon with limits. White

PACIFICA: Sardines are being caught at Half Moon Bay, but little is

PILLAR POINT: The Queen of Hearts was getting steady limits of rock cod.
Huck Finn Sportfishing has been running weekend trips and getting
limits. The rock-cod season ends above Pigeon Point on Oct. 31. The New
Capt. Pete will fish south of Pigeon for the following two weeks until

SANTA CRUZ: Stagnaro's weekend trip hit local reefs and scampered to

SAN FRANCISCO BAY: Few boats are going out. Perch fishing is good from

SAN PABLO BAY: Striped bass are all over San Pablo Bay. Whaling Station,
China Camp, Hamilton Field, the Pumphouse all have been good spots.
