Someday soon, space scientists would like to be able to issue "space storm
watches" just as meteorologists announce thunderstorm or tornado watches
today. With the help of a sun-studying instrument in Alabama, scientists are
getting closer to identifying the warning signs of potentially hazardous
space storms.
Severe space weather can cause havoc just as severe weather does on Earth.
