On individual level, in my observations, there is one difference:
Many Americans have a good sense of their 责任和利益 to the communities, and
are willing to fulfill their 责任 and fight for their 利益, and other
people’s too, because other people’s 利益 are same as mine’s in long run.

agree with your last sentence: It is the society and education which turn
people into who they are. I have met many Americans of various countries of
decent. But they share something in common. You compared Americans and
Chinese; Well, you can see the apparent difference between a Chinese
American and most Chinese in China.
Americans' sense of responsibility can be traced back to several causes.

Finally we agree on same thing! You mentioned some interesting points and
examples, especially Japan. Japan is very unique and interest case.
Well I may argue that difference, many Chinese’s lacking of sense

people, and everyone is different. Many Chinese people are good people and
they are just not allowed to advocate for their rights. If you talk to a

mentioning "run a country".
“Smart” people do more damages.
A country doesn't need to be "civilized" in order to be a superpower. It
doesn't need to be democratic in order to be a superpower. It just needs to
be a collective power that is influential
internationally. The Soviet Union was an example.
