A person is hired to do work that the hiring person (a) cannot do for
himself, or (b) does not want to do.
A job can be a mixture of these two, but to have respect, you need to get
more type a component than type b component. (An exception is that for
junior people who need mentors, there is a tradeoff between a and b.)
Software engineer is at a bad position because it is indeed type a but many
managers perceive it as type b, because the purpose of software engineering
it to automate type b job - the content and the form are mixed and lead to
confusion and abuse. | C**********r

许很多，能原创出的不一定那么多。code的可复制性造成了程序员的低价性。
于是糟糕的程序员反而好混。

cannot do for himself， but many other people can.
does not want to do (himself), but many other people want to do.
所以这种分法其实没啥意义。你不是在跟老板竞争， 是在跟别人竞争。
