本来所有的人都是Salary based, 最近突然大部分的人改成了Hourly based.
大家能否分析一下会是什么原因?

contractor性质,小时工资开得高,公司不用负责保险和其他福利,税自己报,401k上
面也可能没有match。对于公司来说可能更省钱,开人也容易一点吧。

公司仍然付保险,match401k. 好象也没有省钱.
变成时薪制开人就容易吗?

No need to surprise. This is quite common. The advantage is that if you work
over-time, you'll get paid at a higher rate.

From employees' side, it doesn't damage any existing benefits, plus it gives
chances to increase income. But for employer, what do they gain by doing
this?

salary based 不是只有contractor 才是。 non exempt 也是salary based. 不知道不

was told this by a HR person. not sure if it is true.
if a company expects full workload for the next time period (a year, a few
years, a few months, depending on job type), it is cheaper to "buy out" an
employee's time, i.e., put him/her on salary; otherwise, cheaper to pay by-
the-hour (no work == no pay).
of course this does not apply if there is a dominant pay-type (salary or
hourly) of that particular industry/position.

For salary based employee, the company has to hire you as full time (not
less than 40 hrs/wk).
For hourly based employee, the company does not have that obligation. You
can be hired as part time.
As I know, there is no impact regarding the insurance and 401k, etc.
