talked with VP today, and was told:
1. it is nothing related to performance, just purely politics between research and upfront.
2. The promotion is not rejected but discussion extended. Will revisit the issue in 3 month. He asked me to remind him in January to schedule another promotion committee meeting.
3. And don’t contact HR directly to avoid any personal conflict
I guess that's the best result I can get..

than normal process. I went to that situation before, and that's
one of the reasons I don't like big companies that much.
It all depends on how important for the company you think you are.
You can always mention/show the potential offer and ask to be
matched. But there's always a risk associated with it.
My approach would be doing it politely and stress how much you
like the company, at the same time showing something (monster etc.)

谁反对我promotion. 你说这样好吗，我有点儿担心我们头儿知道了会不爽。
其实当时turn down那个potential offer是因为我们公司（小公司）和一个大公司合作
产品非常好，可能明年上市，如果这样我能在stock option上小转一笔。
counter offer这个问题是有risk的，我虽然做的挺好，但是不觉得公司离了谁就不转
，顶多他们花三个月另找一个人，在熟悉半年就成了。这个过程中要干的活儿可以多花
点儿钱找CRO干。

period. Seems that someone stands up against your team/manager/vp, may not
you.
So I guess nothing you can do at this moment. Let's it. The VP may use
these 3 months to find a chance to fight back. If he succeeds, your
promotion is a piece of cake. But if otherwise, nothing will change.

发帖数: 263 | 8 另外一个信息是我老板对我的promotion不像他对我说的那么积极。这会儿忽然想起他
以前说data一定要给他，然后他送出去，还问我是不是觉得他take我的credit.我觉得
他不努力顶我是有原因的。
我今天用了salary.com的 calculator算了一把，我工资居然off chart! 我以前就知道
肯定低，但没想到这么低，于是我就印了一份给他，笑呵呵的说just for fun. 想让我
干活，take 我点儿credit我都不介意，谁让级别差的远哪。不过我的工资也不能太离
谱呀！
VP是不错，牛人而且比较实在。如果将来有机会跟他干，我肯定不跟现在的老板。

I did some calculation, there is potential for at list $X0,000 if the
product goes on market. It is like gambling. You never know if it is right
choice...
