the NSF page does not show "CAREER" in that award. Is it true that all
CAREER awards must have "CAREER:" in front of the proposal title on the NSF
page? Well, since it is announced in the department page, I guess it must be
a real CAREER and the NSF page is a mistake.
I have observed similar things on other colleagues. For example, a couple of
times i asked (casually) about their submitted proposals, they always say "
yes it is funded", but a check on NSF page revealed these are lies.
I myself never lie to colleagues. These days, I start to think maybe it is a
good thing to hide weakness to your colleagues (although I am still not
sure what is the point of making obvious lies). What do you guys think? | f******g 发帖数: 343 | 2 you asked too much!

casually mentioned it during casual conversations. My limited observation is
that senior faculty tend to tell me their failure stories but I almost
always get (obvious) lies from junior colleagues. | f******g 发帖数: 343 | 4 YEs, because seniors got all, they do not need anything more. Juniors just
begin, they care a lot.

People can easily find out the truth and will have the impression that he/

| s*********2 发帖数: 5 | 7 Well. When you have a casual conversation with your colleague, you don't
necessarily always check everything before talk, right?. For example, you
heard your colleague won a grant in some program you are interested in, then
you may try to find out some details etc.
I start to think about this, as I notice quite a few of my junior colleagues
try to act very strong, confident, and aggressive. I myself do the opposite
and tend to complain to colleagues about my failures. I am wondering maybe

Or if relations are really great, talk about kids etc.
