Whitman has many legacy kids. Don't be blinded by numbers. I truly believe a
ABC has less chance to get into the 1st trier school if he/she is from
Whitman. Personally, I know a so-so (by ABC's standard) legacy kid whose
father is a Harvard alumni and donor probably, get into H while denied by
Duke. |

发帖数: 287 | 5 对于我们大多数拿奖的留学生父母来说，有多少本科是大藤的呢？
并不是我们能力不行，而是时代的问题。
而今，我们来到了一个新的国家，可是我们的孩子在大学升学的这件事上就是面临着不
公平的竞争。
要多体谅孩子的不容易，知道在Bethesda他们是和什么样的家庭在竞争,他们有多少的
各方面（包括人际网络）的资源。我们能做的就是尽我们所能给他们好的条件，尽量开
阔的眼界，平和的心态，人际交往的技能，自强自立的人生观，等等。

发帖数: 7272 | 7 跟本地一些老外的差距还是有的。作为第一代移民，我们把重点放在谋生上。以工作为
中心，基本忽视参与社会其他层面的活动。不过，随着孩子的成长，我们也会跟学校，
老师，其他家长乃至社区有互动。相信下一代的华人会比我们更上一层楼。
