Dear Friend,
As many of you may know, I’vebeen producing a half-hour documentary about
the last residents living in DCChinatown since fall 2011. After a yearof
filming and six months of editing, the film is very close to finish. We
believe this is an important story totell. It's a story relevant to all of
usbecause it’s about immigrant experience, the American Dream, and our city
.
Today around 400 Chineseimmigrants remain in Washington's Chinatown. The
film takes audiencesinto the private lives of three Chinese immigrants to
explore the intricatecultural and social issues facing the community today.
Their stories are extraordinary, but I needyour help finishing the film and
bringing it to the world.
To date I have invested myown money and earned critical support from several
organizations and individualdonors. But, making a documentary is nosmall
task. I’m working with top-notchmotion graphics artist, sound designer,
composer, and a group of friendshelping get the word out. I now needfunding
to meet post-production costs of finishing editing, color correction, sound
mix and music scoring.
In a more abstract sense, youare helping to bring the issues of
gentrification, affordable housing, languageaccess and senior services to
the forefront of conversations at film festivals, theaters, museums,
universities, broadcast television…everywhere we plan toshow the film.
Please visit Kickstarter http://kck.st/13uMuFe to watch a trailer and learnmore about the project. Funding onKickstarter is all-or-nothing, and we have 30 days to reach our goal. Pledges of $10 or more will get rewards suchas DVD edition of the film, collectible buttons, limited edition T-shirt,framed art work, tickets to our screenings, and many more.
Thank you so much for yourconsideration and do share with your friends and
social networks.
With sincerest gratitude,
