Hoho, seems I am the perfect person to answer this question, except
that I didn't exactly work in DC, but a nearby MD city.
If you work in the heart of DC, that might be a different story.
Expense of living: Rent in NY is twice as much as in MD;
Security: if you find the right area around NY/NJ/CT and DC/MD/VA,
crime rate is quite low in both places;
Transportation: in NY, public transportation is almost the only
option, bus, subway, train, etc. Quite convenient, but you have to
follow scheduals, kind of a pain in the neck. Unless you work in the
heart of DC, which makes subway a better choice, you can drive to work
in DC/MD/VA. It is a big pain to keep a car in NYC, even some parts of NJ.
Climate, NY is a little colder, and having to walk makes it feel
a little colder too, but basically the two place should be close in temperat
ure. Haven't passed the winter yet, so don't know for sure.
Culture life: both places are pretty good, but different. So depends on what
you like. It feels easier to access in NYC cause transportation is so
convenient
even at midnight, while in DC area, you'd hesitate to go out at night.
Overall, NY is too crowded and noisy. If you like a quiter place, or a bette
r access to open areas, like state parks, lakes, etc, DC is a better choice.

re a night club / bar kind of person, come to NYC. |

2. 好学区，也贵。地税1%，比柳腰低。房价可能与柳腰相当。
3. 中国人多，中国超市多，中国餐馆多。
4. 好区治安没问题。 |

其实，如果收入到了，美东的优势就出来了。连飞欧洲都可以一天来回。西部就算了。

很晚。各种theatre, Kennedy Center 也开得挺晚，就是晚上购物的地方少了点。
