In total, we have bought 6 of them until now. After using different phones
and pads, I still feel strongly that Kindle is the best for reading purpose
.
It does not hurt our eyes.
It comes with the free 3G. I have used it to browse the web where I do not
have data access. In China, there is no need to use proxy to access MITBBS
or facebook.
One full charge can last very very long time. A few weeks' standby time and
many many hours' reading time.
It does fit the pockets on my pants, jackets, coats. |

(not fire) used the Sprint legacy 1xRTT (2G) network capacity for the
network so the WAN should not work in China, it is probably still true for
kindle fire. The reason it does not need specific proxy to the MITBBS,
facebook etc may because the browser itself has built in proxy? have you
tried in China?

发帖数: 7272 | 3 I did use Kindle 3G in China. Without any plan, it could connect to a
cellular network in Beijing or Shanghai (where I've been to).
For bypassing the firewall, here is a couple of reference points.

In short, it seems that VPN did the trick.

interesting, good to know. Digging into the spec, the "Kindle 3G" is not
what i described anymore, it is using the traditional GSM siblings than
CDMA, therefore should be technology compatible (assume it is multi bands
capable) with China mobile and Unicom's GSM. However It should have also
triggered international roaming and ATT subsidized the cost?
From some blogs, it seems the gap has been stopped on the great firewall :)
should be easy to stop it.
Connectivity: HSDPA modem (3G) with a fallback to EDGE/GPRS; utilizes Amazon
Whispernet to provide wireless coverage via AT&T's 3G high-speed data
network in the U.S. and partner networks outside of the U.S
