Actually all government job (both state and federal) salary is public info.

The current salary (2011) for rank-and-file members of the House and Senate
is $174,000 per year.
Members are free to turn down pay increase and some choose to do so.
Leaders of the House and Senate are paid a higher salary than rank-and-file
members.

systems, each grade has a very wide range, you may guess, but not accurate.

digit is good enough.
Another not so accurate way is to search usajobs website for a job that is
similar to get an idea on the pay.
