So my choice for right now is a used s class or 7 series, unless someone
else can suggest another very safe car that is not too big for her to handle

What we have is not the typical au pair you can get (or you may not get
depending on your visa). What we really have is a nanny from BJ that is
brought here on a G-5 Visa though my husband.

2 of them happen in the parking lot, she backed up into a pole one time and
turn too sharp another time and scratched the side of the car. Third time,
she stoped, but another car hit her from behind. So is not a killer like you
thought, just do not know how to handle a car very well, turning and
parking is her weakest skill, but overall she is ok, just not a great driver
and I don't think she can improve much (we have sent her to several class
without much result). I understand no car is absolute safe, but some are
much better than others.

ALTERNATOR usually do not go bad after sitting for a few month.
You should let the car idle for a while, turn on lights, radio, if you see a
battery sign come on the dash board, that could mean your ALTERNATOR is
weak or dying.
But I am guessing your fuel could be too old, did you put some sta-bil in
the tank before you store your car (there are many things you should do to
the car if you plan not to drive it for a few month).
Try to fill the tank with as much fresh gas as you can ASAP.
