发帖数: 23 | 2 hehe,不才知道一些.信息安全实验室是比较牛的,老板是很严格的印度人,
当然不是不好,就是说你要适应他,可以出成果的.
这里的治安可以说很好吧,主要是白人,有钱人多.房租算是比较贵的地方了,不过也有便宜
一些的,奖学金生活是不成问题的,这里生活很方便.

rent would be sth like $350-$500.
not sure about the academics, cuz i am not mason student.

Jajodia have more connections than Sandhu does.

发帖数: 20 | 6 I only took one of Dr. Sandhu's courses. I never took any course of Jajodia.
I just part-time student ocassionally visited GMU. But I met Ph.D students
there. They said Sandhu is better in academic, and also nicer to students.
You know, some of Indians are good, but some of Indians stink. But I am sure
Sandhu is a good one.

difference which university you graduate from, except top 10, as long as you
have CS degree and CS experience.

Just kidding :) The DC metro area seems to be still very promising in terms of
employment opportunites under such a kind of economy and GMU's location
will definitely boost the placement of its graduates. Plus from what I know,
GMU should be fairly strong in software engineering research.

For my classmates, general speaking, salary in VA-DC is about 10k or even more
lower than FL, TX. Besides there is no income tax there. And after you get
job, it's sooo slow to apply GC in VA right now.

发帖数: 275 | 14 GMU is in third tier but can be considered as a second tier school because of
the geographic locations.
A lot government jobs only requires green card and they are more stable under
current economic conditions. It's probably true that the jobs in this area do
not pay as high as some other areas. But I thought N.VA has more software
firms than either TX or FL in old good days.
