Not that much, more like Mainland mandarin and Taiwan mandarin.
Cantonese is an entirely different language.
I only have scholastic understanding of French, cannot really speak the
language.
But my former boss grew up around Montreal.
A former coworker spent several years in Paris.
She spoke French with my boss sometimes.
You told my boss's accent was strange and used weird vocab.
