CAPITAL GAINS TAX
MCCAIN
15% (no change)
OBAMA
28%
CLINTON
24%
How does this affect you? If you sell your home and
make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes.
If you are heading toward retirement and would like to
down-size your home or move into a retirement
community, 28% of the money you make from your home
will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect
the elderly who are counting on the income from their
homes as part | d****q 发帖数: 211 | 2 即使Clinton, Obama联合上台(President+VP),议会不会轻易通过这些税收政策吧?
anyways, 没有选举权啊 | m******o 发帖数: 774 | 3 Thanks for the interesting info. I do have a couple questions, though.
Q1:
I'm filling my 1040 now and I'm looking at the tax table from Bush (and
Mccain):
If line 43 (taxable income) is: 60,000
Your tax is (Married filing jointly): 8,214 - 8,221 (you said 9,000)
If line 43 (taxable income) is: 75,000
Your tax is (Married filing jointly): 11,591 - 11,604 (you said 18,750)
Q2:
I remember very clearly, when Bush pushed his tax cut years ago and the
congress was deba

another words, what they will do if they get selected.
First, The figure you listed is from the calculation. Say $9,000 is 15% of
taxable income--$60,000. Our current tax rate on taxable income is also 15%.
The figure provided by IRS is discounted by variouable reaons, one of them
is "time value". Rember what you are filing is called "tax return". You paid
your tax first and claim the return for overpaid. They discount the

| m********g 发帖数: 825 | 5 About Bush's tax cut plan, I don't think it passed.
Here is what I remember, 8 years ago, right after he got selected, he
launached the tax refund also. Bascially, every taxpayer received a check.
But later, the tax got increased again.

| m******o 发帖数: 774 | 6 I do remember that dramatic scene though: A muffler was used during the
debate to tell people 'this is average family will get' by the tax cut, and
a Lexus is what a rich family will get. Things like that. And that time the
tax cut was indeed passed. So it seems like Obama or Hillary will increase
tax a lot than Bill Clinton?
Anyway, I still won't support Obama or Mccain. Republican has screwed up
enough. Obama is not trustworthy to me.

| m********g 发帖数: 825 | 7 I don't know too much about Obama's plan since I think he is a joke....
For Clinton, the tax increase is mostly likely. She simply needs money to
support the Universal health care which I think is a plan to reward lazniess
and punish hard-working ones.

| d****q 发帖数: 211 | 8 I don't think the policies of Clinton and Obama are siginificantly different
. They both evoke UHC and option out. Besides, Americans hate "rich" people (not rich rich people, cos rich rich people have their means to avoid taxes anyways)
no matter who the president is. Check out the current federal tax
policies. Additionally, the current compensation policies for low income people, e.g.
food stamps, all work in favor of the "poor".
I have a friend working in gov. He deals with low income peop
