earthnet card.
when i installed the system, i can set the IP, and select
"none" from the "DNS/NIS/.....",But i can not ping the
gateway and the other computer in
the same subnet.
in the ifconfig -a .i can see my card is dnet0,and i
re-config all the necessary file such as
nsswith.conf,resolve.conf and etc.
what i should do ? i only want to link my computer to the
internet .

connected or notconnect
I guess if you even can't ping others in the same segment,
it might be your ethernet card not configured correctly
instead of your network configuration
post your netstat -rn and ifconfig -a
ping your gateway has nothing to do with your DNS configs
That's already a lot:-)
