National University of Singapore (www.nus.edu.sg). The two-year project is
co-funded by Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and GlaxoSmithKline
(GSK), focusing on developing green biochemical engineering technologies for
biopharmaceutical production. Major deliverable is in manpower training for
pharmaceutical industry of Singapore and the others are standard research
deliverables such as journal manuscripts. Upon completion of the project,
you will be expected to contribute to the pharmaceutical industries although
there is no bond for it. You may want to know that biologics manufacturing
and pharmaceuticals are the next big wave for Singapore's economy. Eight of
the top ten pharmaceutical companies have estabilished their regional
headquarters in Singapore and companies such as GSK have been pioneering
their manufacturing excellence in Singapore (www.edb.gov.sg).
Requirements:
i) A Ph.D. degree in biochemical engineering/chemical engineering/
biotechnology/bioengineering or related field with experience in
bioprocessing and whole-cell biocatalysis; experience in cell immobilization
, microbial biofilms is also desirable.
ii) Good experimental skills and preferably be able to take advantages of
various microscopic imaging and analytical instruments including confocol
microscopy, HPLC, GC, and MS etc.
iii) Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
iv) Highly motivated and a pleasant team worker.
