A large blast rocked an area in front of the US Embassy in Beijing when a
man tried to hurl a homemade bomb into the gated compound, it was reported.
But the bomb exploded before the man could toss it over the fence, causing
confusion and panic in the street.
The blast reportedly injured a number of people and damaged a police car
parked outside the compound's gates.
The fate of the bomber was not known, but one video taken in the aftermath
shows security personnel, including military and police, working around
something under a blue tarpaulin within a cordon. | R*****g
