nationals support Trump, they may do so for very different reasons than
American citizens of Chinese descent.
On Weds Nov 2 we interviewed David Tian Wang, the California resident who
started the group Chinese Americans for Trump, who explains the purpose of
the banner: to promote the preferred candidate and to galvanize Chinese-
Americans to become politically involved. We also interviewed a Chinese
American small business owner in Kirkland, WA, about why she supported the
airplane banner flight in the Seattle-area. The full, updated article is

Again, the criticism of our original article is valid. The initial
assignment was to report on Chinese nationals’ stance on Trump, based on
conversations a KUOW reporter had when she was on a journalism fellowship in
China last September. The same day as we interviewed a UW international
student from China, we saw the “Chinese Americans for Trump” banner in the
sky above Seattle. We made an attempt to combine what were two completely
separate stories. It was culturally insensitive and shows how much we need
to learn and understand about the Chinese American community. And for that
we also apologize.

Use one single interview to mislead the readers to believe the whole Chinese
American community shares the same view, this is classic selective
journalism. Bravo! You are totally qualified to work in Publicity Department
of the Communist Party of China!
“Chinese in US and abroad” are different from the group who organized the
airplane flyby, with the banner clearly says “WA Chinese American”. You
surly know the difference and yet mixed the two groups on purpose – I can
see you were very well trained with this technique, the mixture is very
subtle and is not noticeable by the average readers unless they are the
targets. The management should give you an immediate pay raise!
Chinese Americans as a political group, often share different views from the
people in mainland China, and just like ordinary Americans, Chinese
Americans themselves have different political views, left or right,
Democratic or Republican. To put a single tag on the whole Chinese American
group, your view is totally biased at least, if not racism.
Though personally, I don’t believe Trump alone has the capability to “make
American great again”, Trump is absolutely not a “tool to bring American
down” as stated by the young Chinese student, and as a matter of fact, you
are using the Chinese Americans as a tool to sell your own stuff. Journalism
like yours is what I view bringing American down.
Writing this email is a waste of my time and it makes me feel sick.
