And still here we are trying to explain Trump, giving an amplification to
his message of bigotry, nativism and abject idiocy. Like mice, we are
trapped in Trump's mouse wheel, churning over and over his latest rant or
racist comment. False equivalence and a misguided desire from the press to
appear balanced has enabled this narcissistic fool to thrive. Trump has
already done major damage to our body politic and our race relations. And
regretfully, our feckless press has been complicit. | t*****1 发帖数: 1459 | 3 NoTrump Somewhere In Time 3 hours ago
Just as the Anti Defamation League and the Southern Povery Law Center have
fought against hate speech, there has been no semblance of outrage when it
Hillary Clinton and President Obama have become targets over the past eight
years or more.
When one woman is attacked for being a woman it is an attack on all women.
When one black man, such as President Obama, is attacked, it is an attack on
all of us in America.
Why have we stood by and allowed it? Given the level of hate coming from the
GOP and republican leadership there should have been a monumental backlash
against that level of hate and hostility to Clinton and Obama.
Where is the outrage? | t*****1 发帖数: 1459 | 4 Jane Brooklyn, NY 3 hours ago
In so many ways, Donald Trump still lives in the 1980s, in a big tacky glass
tower, insulated from the rest of the world. His views on nearly everything
seem to reflect that era, as if the last 30 years didn't happen. | t*****1 发帖数: 1459 | 5 Ponderer Mexico City 3 hours ago
When Trump says "our African-American communities are absolutely in the
worst shape they've ever been in before. Ever, ever ever," he certainly is
not speaking to blacks, who know that our country has a long way to go
before we eradicate racism -- but also know that things were far, far worse
under slavery and Jim Crow.
Trump's ignorance and insensitivity are appalling. Maybe his supporters
still admire Trump for "speaking his mind," but the rest of us can only look
at the ugliness of Trump's mind, our mouths agape with incredulity. | t*****1 发帖数: 1459 | 6 CityBumpkin Earth 3 hours ago
The modern Democratic Party has a lot of flaws and warts, but it is at least
a coalition of people that make up modern America: men, women, different
religions, different sexual orientations and identities, and difference
races. The Democratic Party is a coalition of a lot of different groups.
Sometimes this makes internal politics argumentative, but that's what
happens when you have a lot of diverse people and viewpoints at the same
table.
The party creed of diversity and tolerance is often ridiculed by opponents
as "political correctness," but it is what allows everyone to be at that
same table as partners.
According to a June 28, 2016 poll published by Newsweek, 50% of self-
identified Trump supporters consider African-Americans more violent than
whites. 40% of the same group considered African-Americans lazier.
These are a couple of the oldest racist stereotypes about African-Americans
and they have 40 and 50% support among Trump voters! Can any African-
American, or indeed any minority voters, genuinely think they can be in a
political coalition with people with these views? Can any such voter
actually think they will even be allowed a seat at the table with Trump and
the Republican Party? | l*******g 发帖数: 27064 | 7 lol

It's about conformity. The Republican Party is all for diversity as long as
everyone conforms. Conformity means accepting that white 'Christian'
patriarchy is the rule of the land. Black people, all people - even women! -
are welcome to conform to the idea that white males are superior. |
