T*********I 发帖数: 10729 | 1 At 4:40 a.m. Oct. 10, Joshua Jermaine Davis walked into a North Charleston
Waffle House with a pistol and demanded money from employees.
What the 19-year-old didn’t know is he wasn’t the only one at the
Dorchester Road business with a gun.
Kenneth Rivers was waiting in his car for a to-go order of food, chatting
with his brother when he saw Davis rob the restaurant, according to police.
A concealed-weapons permit holder, Rivers took cover with his gun and
confronted Davis when he came out of the eatery, cash drawer in hand. The
two exchanged gunfire, and Davis was fatally wounded.
And it was legal.
The high-profile shootout has once again put a spotlight on the practice of
concealed carry in South Carolina. Advocates say it’s an example of why
more people should be trained to carry weapons while opponents note that a
policy of justifiable homicide in every citizen-stopped robbery could be a
dangerous precedent. ... |
