While secretary of state, Hillary Clinton accidentally replied to an email
about a fallen U.S. drone in Pakistan with her thoughts about decorations.
“I like the idea of these,” she wrote in response to the email containing
an Associated Press story about a tussle between Pakistani soldiers and
Taliban fighters for the U.S. drone. “How high are they? What would the
bench be made of?”
“And I’d prefer two shelves or attractive boxes/baskets/containers on one,
” she continued. “What do you think?”
Her deputy chief of staff Huma Abedin, who had forwarded the story, was
confused. “Did u mean to send to me?” she asked.
“No — sorry!” Hillary replied. “Also, pls let me know if you got a reply
from my ipad. I’m not sure replies go thru.” (RELATED: Millenials Have No

AP reporter Jack Gillum extracted this gem from a pile of emails released by
the Department of State in response to a 2013 Freedom of Information Act
request for emails between Hillary and her senior advisers regarding drone
strikes and U.S. surveillance programs.
She’s come under scrutiny after it was discovered she used a personal email
on a private server she set up as Secretary of State. She claims her staff
reviewed all of the emails and deleted those they deemed personal and
irrelevant to her work, then turned the rest over to the Department of State.
“At the end, I chose not to keep my private personal emails,” she said at
a recent press conference defending herself. “Emails about planning Chelsea
’s wedding, or my mother’s funeral arrangements, condolence notes to
friends, as well as yoga routines, family vacations, the other things you
typically find in inboxes. No one wants their personal emails made public,
and I think most people understand that and respect that privacy.”
Fortunately, this private email didn’t make the cut. |
