(CNSNews.com) - One in five children, or 21.7 percent, received food stamps
in 2014, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau released Thursday –
more than at the beginning of the 2007 recession.
“The number of children receiving food stamps remains higher than it was
before the start of the Great Recession in 2007,” reports the Census Bureau
. “The rate of children living with married parents who receive food stamps
has doubled since 2007. In 2014, an estimated 16 million children, or about
one in five, received food stamp assistance compared with the roughly 9
million children, or one in eight, that received this form of assistance
prior to the recession.”
In 2007, 12.7 percent of children under 18 received food stamps. In 2014,
that number jumped to 21.7, a 70.9 percent increase.
Of the 16 million children receiving food stamps in 2014, 8.1 million lived
with their mother only, 5.2 million lived with married parents, 1.2 million
lived with unmarried parents, 0.9 million had no parent present and 0.5
million had only the father present.
Since 2007, children who lived with their mother only saw the greatest
increase in food stamp benefits. In 2007, 33 percent of children who lived
with their mother only received food stamps, which jumped to 47 percent in
2014.
While this group saw the largest increase, according to the Census, “
married couples make up the majority (72 percent) of the 86.4 million family
groups, which are defined as two or more people who live together and are
related by birth, marriage or adoption. Unmarried mothers and unmarried
fathers make up 12 percent and 2 percent of family groups, respectively.” | t*c 发帖数: 8291 | 2 按照肤色统计一下,是不是某个种族80%以上的孩子在food stamp上。
