(CNSNews.com) – While the national unemployment rate is 7.3%, the
unemployment rate for young workers, ages 16-19, is more than three times
that rate at 22.2%, according to the data released today from the Bureau of
Labor Statistics (BLS).
The seasonally adjusted numbers show that for October 2013, the unemployment
rate for youth was 22.2%. That is a slight increase over the September
rate of 21.4%.
In the five years that President Barack Obama has served as president, the
unemployment rate for workers ages 16-19 has not fallen below 20%. In fact,
since his first full month in office in February 2009, the unemployment rate
for young workers, the millennial generation, has not fallen below 22% and
hit a peak of 27.2% in October 2010. | t*c
