The libs keep a coming...Nanny-state Mayor Michael Bloombers lost his
soda ban last week in court and now wants his City Council to ban the
display of cigarettes in stores, claiming they promote an "unnatural"
activity called smoking.
Store owners say it would crush them, but anti-tobacco advocates have
long wanted displays banned as their next step towards a defacto prohibition
against a product that is dangerous but still popular among at least a
segment of the population.
The little bodega and newsstand owners don't have much voice, but the
chain stores will provide the muscle to put off this Bloomberg initiative,
at least for now. |
