Heavy early voting turnout in city, suburban Cook County

Even though there are four fewer days in the Early Voting period this year
than there were for the 2008 presidential election, nearly as many Chicago
Early Voting ballots have been cast, according to the Chicago Board of
Election Commissioners.
Board of Election Commissioners spokesman Jim Allen said Saturday afternoon
that the line for Grace Period registration/voting stretched out the door of
69 W. Washington, around the building and down Dearborn Street to Madison
Street. “The number of these ‘true procrastinators’ will shatter the
record numbers we saw during the Grace Period program of 2008,” he said.
