I am not sure why the Obama campaign keeps releasing TV ads featuring Mitt
Romney drubbing their candidate in last week's debate.
First there was the "How Can You Trust Romney?" ad which disputes Romney's
assertion that he is not in favor of a $5 trillion tax cut. It is the ad
which asks, "If we can't trust him here then how could we ever trust him
here?" The heres in question are the debate podium and the Oval Office,
respectively.
The problem for Obama is that Americans do trust Romney at the debate podium
. As for Obama, the American people put their trust in him four years ago
and yet he couldn't defend his policies at the debate podium. The American
people do not trust Obama either at the debate podium or in the Oval Office.
Then there is today's Sesame Street ad which claims Romney believes Big Bird
to be a public menace. The ad is mildly amusing but it again reminds people
that Romney wiped the floor with Obama in the debate. It also reminds
people of one of Romney's best lines in the entire debate.
But it gets worse for Obama. Sesame Workshop, which produces Sesame Street,
has asked the Obama campaign to take down the ad. If the Obama campaign
refuses, Sesame Workshop ought to sue if for no other reason than to see
court papers which read Big Bird v. Obama.
What Obama needs to is forget about this debate and prepare for the next one
. He got hammered and reminding people of it does him no good. That's
exactly what Obama would do if he were smart but, as I argue in my latest
article, Obama isn't smart enough to be in the same room with Romney. |
