Merry Christmas, Mr. Bush: 'Decision Points' is a big seller
These are turning out to be very happy holidays for George W. Bush.
Decision Points, the former president's memoir, is wrapping up the most
sales of the 2010 gift-buying period, analysis of data from USA TODAY's Best
-Selling Books list shows.

"It's the best-selling title this holiday season," says Kathryn Popoff,
Borders' vice president for merchandising and trade books. "People,
regardless of their political philosophies and persuasion, want to read
about what our last president has to say."
Publisher Crown reports that 1.75 million copies of the book have sold since
Nov. 9.
Despite the economy, "it looks like it's going to be a solid Christmas for
book sales and bookstores," says Jim Milliot of Publishers Weekly, a trade
publication.
Other non-fiction titles doing well as Dec. 25 nears:
•Autobiography of Mark Twain, Vol. 1, released Nov. 15. "It's become '
The Dad gift,' but I know a lot of people are buying it for themselves," say
Tom Nissley, senior editor at Amazon.
•Life by Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones: "It's a window into one
of the most iconic bands of our time. Keith Richards writes with humor and
candor. It's a great gift for any music fan," says Popoff.
•Unbroken,Laura Hillenbrand's story of World War II POW Louie
Zamperini, "thanks to a lot of word of mouth" recommendations, says Nissley.
The book is on several top 10 lists for the year, including Amazon's.
Fiction top sellers include the novels in Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy
, the year's most talked-about thriller series. They are selling separately
and in a new boxed set.
Other top fiction: Stephen King's story collection Full Dark, No Stars,
James Patterson's Alex Cross novel Cross Fire and John Grisham's legal
thriller The Confession.
Big books for kids: The Elf on the Shelf by Carol V. Aebersold and Chanda B.
Bell, Rick Riordan's The Lost Hero and Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney.
Top-selling cookbooks: Barefoot Contessa: How Easy is That? by Ina Garten
and Rachael Ray's Look + Cook.
