发帖数: 844 | 2 SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. —An Upstate volunteer pastor is accused of
sexually assaulting a 15-year-old, according to Spartanburg County deputies.
According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, the victim told her
father that she had attended a service at Restoration Church on Wednesday.&#
160;The girl claimed that while at church Hughes had her accompany him&
#160;to his home and offered her a drink.
The victim said she accepted a diet drink, but did not like it. She
said Hughes then gave her some alcoholic beverages and she drank the alcohol.
According to the victim, the next thing she remembered was waking up and
putting her pants on. Deputies said Hughes sexually assaulted the victim.
The father said his daughter vomited Wednesday night and did not go to
school the next day, but he thought it was a stomach virus because his
younger child had one recently.
Pastor Tony Cribb at Restoration Church said Hughes was a member of the
church for nine years and volunteered for seven years. Cribb said Hughes'
volunteer duties included helping pastoral staff with hospital visits,
running errands and making bank deposits. According to Cribb, Hughes was
never assigned to work with children or the youth ministry.
Cribb said the church is shocked and saddened by this news and is fully
cooperating with the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.
Officials at the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office said Hughes was a
volunteer chaplain for the Sheriff’s Office in the past.
Wright said Hughes' service with the Sheriff’s Office ended after
allegations that he inappropriately touched a child in the past. | E*****m
