1. he was dead already.
2. he was a brit.
seems whatever caught my interest tended to be produced in britain, from
actors to authors, movies to books. i've sworn a few times not to heed brit
any more. but, here, again. |

or 发帖数: 720 | 5 what do you think of margaret atwood? her blind assasin was okay but a few
short stories were just soso. am still stuck in a mood for chinese
translation. could enjoy trash simply to see the way that the language
meanders. also nonfictions broaden my perspective somewhat.

and also one book can have several different translation versions |
t*******n 发帖数: 4445 | 7 《Handmaid’s Tale》 is brilliant in many ways. The evaluation depends on
what you compare it to. On one hand it’s no match for 《1984》. On the
other hand, it maybe the most interesting piece I’ve seen from any
self-proclaimed feminist.
Then I saw two reviews on 《Oryx and Crake》and decided not to read her pseudo
Sci-Fi any more. Maybe I should try《Blind Assassin》instead.
Nevertheless I like her reviews of other authors. They seem to be decent,
e.g. on Ursula K Le Guin:
