early the night and decide to find a casino to play some poker before the
next day's morning flight. Bought in $100 and came out $146 in 2-3 hours,
not as excited as many of the DaNius here but it's a huge improvement than
my first casino trip of down $300. Not much interesting hands but several
more lessons learnt for me.
1. No matter how hot the weather is, poker room is still freaking cold.
I made a huge mistake only wearing t-shirt and shorts and was shaking
through most of the session. I don't know if that work for/against me on
other's read on me, lol.
2. Never play when you are not at your right mind.
I'm still very new when it come to casino poker. I saw people here say it's
good to wait until you are big blind and then go in when you sit down, that
way you same some money and you can observe the time. So that's what I was
planning to do. However, the dealer passed me the first round and dealt me
card the second round so I'm a little bit confused here. I learnt it seems
here, you can "buy the dealer(hopefully i didn't hear it wrong)" the first
hand you sit down for $3 or you can wait the first hand and you will dealt
automatically the second hand as you are already in the game, don't need to
post anything. The rules I played earlier is you can decide whenever you
want to join, but you post same amount as big blind. Anyone care explain a
little bit on the different variance here?
The hand I was dealt is AQo, all fold in front of me in pretty earlier
position. I was so confused I just called without any raise. The guy left of
me had huge stack and he just call as well. Everyone else called. Flop 10
high rainbow board, I bet $15 here and the guy left of me re-raise to $45.
Everyone else fold. I tank a bit and fold too.
Would love to get some tips here,
a. I know I made a mistake of not raising the first hand.
b. If I raised 10-12 pre-flop and see that flop, I would make a continuation
bet of $15-20, that's why I bet $15 at flop. But given I didn't bet pre-
flop, I now think it's better for me to just check.
c. Since i'm new to the table so I have no read at all. If I did bet $10 pre
-flop and got called by the guy on the left. And If I made the continuation
bet of $15-20 on the turn and got re-raise to $45-60 by him, I probably
still will fold. Is that the only outcome here or there is some other way if
you get decent hand and got re-raised earlier with no read.
3. It's very hard for TAG to make any profit when the table has almost no
action.
I would say the table is full of fish(myself included). Even the two decent
guy on the table play very passive as well. There is at least 3-4 time the
whole table checked to the end from flop and no one made any bet with small
pot like $10. A lot people here probably will kill the table by stealing but
I still need to learn that. I had two straight and 1 full house and only
win very marginal money on those. Later, a very wild young men joined the
table and was playing pretty crazy. It raised the atmosphere, everyone is
loose a little bit and I was able to win some $ with nice hand. I actually
feel much more enjoyable when he joined the able and thought I would rather
loose some money play like this then win a little bit in a very dead game(
not a good idea).
again, not very exciting or profitable session but it's a start in the right

trash hand to me, seriously, i hate to play this OOP for a decent pot on Qxx
