yes, with 2 in the last 11, i thought at least one of them will end the 17
years long drought of no woman player in the final table... at least
elizabeth was in good shape at one time, sigh.

I was following the main event final tables yesterday, and got stunned by
how bad these finalists are. I dont want to be too arrogant but I have to
say that half of them do not know how to play short-stacked final tables.
Hand 1:
X raised to 2BBs from MP. Y 3-bet to 4.5 BBs from button. X called. heads up
. X got 53 BBs stack. Y got him covered.
Flop 689 rainbow. check check. Pot: 10BBs.
Turn: J. Board is 689J now. X fired 5BBs. Y called.
River: 5. Board is 689J5 now. No flush possible. X tanked and overbet allin
with 43 BBs into the 20 BBs pot. Y snap called.
X shows QT for the nuts. Y got shocked and show a 7 for a lower staight. Y
lost 53BBs and got 10BBs left. He got busted at 15th position soon.
I got really amused by how fucking horrible this fish is -- calling is
already a big mistake, since you are paying 43 BBs only with the hope to
chop a 20 BBs pot. In most cases it will indeed be a chop chop, but it
simply is not worth it at this stage of such an important tourney. But this
guy snap called -- WTF! Is this a $5 buy-in tourney? no way could this be a
snap call? This fish even revealed his losing hand. Does he want to show
that he didnt nothing wrong and he was just unlucky. Lol.
Hand 2:
A short stack with 13BBs shoved allin with A5o into 6 players. Got called
and busted. This is not a horrible mistake but shows this player has no idea
about math. For such a short stack there is known optimal strategy -- Given
the 13BB stack size, the 2BB dead money, and the typical calling range, you
can shove A5o into 3 players but doing that into 6 players is -EV for sure.
EV is about -3BB, which is why it is not a horrible mistake. But again, it
shows this guy has no idea about how to play short stack sizes.

It has been several long days for them with tons of pressure. People make
less optimal decisions often ...

X called 3-bet. Y didn't even think X had a 7, let along QT, which is a "100
%" fold hand pre flop..
Maybe Y already went through all these so he's suprised. He snap-called to s
ee a split or a beat set..

You probably gave Y too much benefit of doubt. These guys do min raise and
min 3-bet with suited connectors all the time -- they all know that. And
calling a min 3-bet OOP with SC is fine given that they got 50BB stack and 1
to 4.5 odds. It is much better than calling a 3-bet with ATo, since with
that you never know where you are even when you pair your ace.
Personally, I think it is so obvious that X at least got a straight.
Otherwise it is such a stone cold bluff. With 15 ppl left in the WSOP main
event, there is no way OOP X could be risking 43BBs and his whole tourney
life to win a 20BB pot. This is something Durrr dares to do in high stake
cash games, but even Durrr himself probably wont try such bluff in WSOP main
event final tables.
BTW, Y exposed both of his cards and he didnt even have T7. In other words,
he could also lose to the 2nd nuts on this board.
