My initial goal was 5k total this month including RB, so it's about 4.2K
profit if we consider $800 RB. I set it pretty high but it's still
reasonable based on my last month's trend...
I thought I can reach it as I got 2.5k profit in 10 days, then the first
downswing came, which blow 2.1k away in one day. I thought I could not reach
my goal any more. However I got this 2.1k back in a week and reach the
monthly high 3.3K profit around 3rd week of this month-- I was getting
excited and my goal is not completely impossible. Another big down swing
came right after I replied fringking's downswing thread, lost 2.2k in 3 days
. I was so frustrated, why the swing is so big and it happens twice a month!
!!
I managed to get 1.2K back in next 4 days. so I was still up around 2200
profit, plus RB($1000) and one small tournament win, my total is around 3300
at this moment for this month. I am not disappointed with the numbers as
goal is goal. Even if you could not reach it, as long as you have good trend
, you will get there sooner or later. I am not happy with the double
downswings...my confidence is not strong as it was before...
I will play less next month and try to avoid the big downswing if it is
possible...

the exact same feelings about swings (yeah, every feeling).
as last month, i started nov. in the right direction, up about $700 ($500
from 50NL + $200 tourney)+rakeback for the first week AND no sweat at all,
for my humble $1K goal, this was way ahead.
then two big punches, fought back and up some next day, then sank again next
day, then up, then down... in a word, never really come back, or down more
up less.
i lost a lot of fun/interest from the old grinding style in the end. yeah, i
opened up my game quite some but beats i got were a little off too much. i
don't even bother to post them here any more, lol. swings made my head clear
how little edge i have against my opponents. i admit though, i could still
control the loss to be less, but it'd not change the whole picture.

help him, even with swings, $2K/month+rakeback is a very hot record for a
100NL player;
2) i watched some sample coaching materials from 2+2, some stuff is really
made up for "coaching";
3) more importantly, i have a feeling that the whole online player pool is
shrinking big. goes ranks 29th on rakebackpros.com, which is big since FTP
endorses it, imagine how many "more" players are really playing 100NL, 200NL
+ games now? my guess would be <1000 at peak time on FTP (500 rush, 500
regular), although it looks like 100K players online, most of them are SNGs
or MTTs. FTP and PS stopped accepting U.S. credit cards, i think this plays
a big role too.

the bb first made a donk bet, he just want to take down the pot and got
called. at the turn he added the nut flush draw with two high cards. mostly
he didn't read you that well and figured out u have a pair. in reality he
had almost 30% chance to catch up. 70% advantage in poker is nothing.
this past week i lost 1.2k in live game in one day. i lost $500 in one hand
with AAs. fish not only called my $100 3-bet preflop with 89o, he called
every street when he flopped a bottom pair with 9 even i bet huge on the
flop and turn. on the river he hit his third 9 and i doubled him up. i just
feel helpless there because i never slow played the hand.
after the sessions i told the hand to my friend. my friend just told me to
review hands and check if i overplayed my tptk or overpair kind of hand. i
review them and it is true. although i got the money in when i still in lead
, but the lead is not big enough for a lot money. when we in downswings, i
believe we should play even tighter. not only to play those premium hands,
but also need play to river ONLY with nuts or close to nuts. we shouldn't do
it all the time, but i believe that is the only way to save money when u
are in downswings.
poker is not the way to make big money for most ppl. u have fun, make some
little money end of the year, u should be happy. for me, i already accept it

the guy I met at AC. He use to play 30$ sngs on PS. He turned to live
because making money on-line is not as easy as before. We need to open the
gate for all the US players even though that means regulation from the
government. If they make it difficult to deposit money, sooner or later only
the people that are withdrawing $$ would be left. The next thing you know,
people who used to withdraw money will not be able to anymore. It is just
a matter of time.
Another bottomline is that the real fish are probably playing NL10 instead of NL100. Because when they are losing, they would rather stay at low levels except the fishes who are rich.

I floated the flop because his range is polarized.
if he is strong I am hoping to draw out gut shot for the implied odds and
hope to take down with a scary card on turn or river.
If he is weak with draws, then of course I should float one more street. The call also gives me a wide range to continue.
Now turn is a scary card. he check either he is still on a draw that should
not be able to continue anymore or his 2 pair set is scared of the flush. I
hope to bet that scary card to take down
the pot either ahead or behind. Now the river is normally a fold if he
didn't lead out donk pot flop. Here when he lead again, he has either air or
Ac. The only hand that he might have in his donk pot range is Ac9 or Ac8
maybe. But still that is a pretty aggressive move on the flop facing 2
players. So if he is doing that he could also have complete air here hope to
fold me out with my small
flushes or other hand on turn. Now, these dynamics only work on people who
THINK to play. He is obviously not one that thinks. he made a mistake
preflop by calling, made another mistake flop by donking, and another
mistake on turn by calling. Of course I can't read his hand anymore by all
these mistakes~~~ I paid $$ to make an expensive notes. That is all.
River call is a mistake most of the time, but I call when people does not
make sense. I have been doing this since i was at NL10 to improve hand
reading.. Now I think of it. He actually could have AcXc a lot at this spot.
He did surprise me with his AcKs.
in summary, he made 3 mistakes pre flop and turn. I made one costly mistake on river. River mistake is obviously more costly than previous street as I have mentioned before. Yes I should lay it down on river to play this hand perfectly, but I had to see his hand.. It is obviously not worth it because it only made me tilt. | W********m

The fact is that all the hand he push, he will call a shove regardless. BUT
he will not push all the hand that he will call a shove with. i hope you
see what I mean for your own good. Only time I will check is when I put
villian on a draw with no showdown value... or i see villian's hand as very strong but I have the nuts and the pot is too deep to push with, like flush card get there but i got the full house, so i check shove.

2) it's some side income. many charge at least $50/hr for micro levels like
25NL or 50NL, and 10 sessions minimum;
3) the things (assuming correct things) we can digest are limited. my take
is unless i can fully open up myself, i won't get the best out of it. so
more likely, i may learn a few new tricks but miss the bigger picture;
4) training videos may have mych better value/price ratio.

One reason i have been thinking why NL 100 has larger swing than lower stake is because people push harder with small edges. They feel they are ahead, they will push you all in, while at lower stake, people still have tendency to slow play monsters. 结果很多可以清别人都清不掉.. swing, 当然小了... | W********m

我个人的一个小猜测，他会不会put你on 78sc，看到river 9， check river，指望你
觉得他flop/turn都在block，然后对他value bet river， 代价小点

这段受益了，different level different world，如果你没有搞清对手的路数，用相
应等级的abc来打，相对比较保险，而个人感觉micro stake的ABC基本上就是being
true NIT,所以真正的micro stake grinder们绝对不会有什么大起大落。 赶紧建仓，

another huge downswings on super turbo SNG for 1.5k. (Around 10 hours!!!)
