variance for limit is lower, so the fluctuation of limit poker will cause
less emotional stress as a result. If you are playing above your bankroll or
out of your comfort zone, move down to a level you feel comfortable or your
bankroll allows.

death, or more likely, act like a donkey. Swing-wise, I don't know, it's
definitely much bigger swing if you count it by BB, but for the same kind of
bankroll, no-limit player also has much smaller BB than limit player. I've
had 300BB downswing in limit before, boy it felt much worse actually.
I'll move down to NL200 for a while, actually the loss is not as brutal as
it sounds. I'm still life-time winner on nl400, but I di

| p*****l 发帖数: 399 | 7 Sometimes I feel bored playing limit too. Although I don't play NL much(
almost all my NL experience comes from tournaments), I think boredom is not
less of a factor in NL. In limit, you get constant action, in NL, you wait
patiently for big action. I read somewhere someone described NL as "hours of
dull boredom followed by moments of sheer terror". I actually agree with
that.
Now I listen to music when playing, so don't feel as bored as before and my
result actually improves.

| i********r 发帖数: 1153 | 8 the most popular and effective NL style right now is loose-aggressive. it
requires a lot of experience to master, but it's pretty fun. hehe. the line
you quoted seems like a pretty good description for "set miners" if you know

| c****u 发帖数: 3277 | 10 loose-aggressive style is very exploitable by good players. It's extremely
effective against players who can easy get tilt though, that's why
this style is popular. IMO, one has to play a defensive game and be able
to beat this game first, then he can adjust his strategy according to
different
opps.

| i********r 发帖数: 1153 | 12 yes, tight-aggressive is like the fundamentals.
first you learn that then you adapt.
but in the current stage of poker, LAG style is the best weapon. It's not
easy, but it becomes super effective once you can master it. On the other
hand, if you don't know what you are doing and just go LAG because it sounds
cool, you'll end up like me losing 3k in a day.

| p*****l 发帖数: 399 | 13 I don't know how to play a LAG style. I read some articles advocating LAG
style, I agree if you can master it, NL will be very fun, you are constantly
involved in pots and face many decisions, if you can make the right ones
most of the time, LAG is both fun and rewarding, but it's very tough to get
to that level, and you'll sure suffer a lot of setbacks on the way even if
you can get there. I just choose the safe route to play limit, hehe.

LAG level is also depend on how many mistakes you made.
i think at least LAG requires a larger bank roll.

| i********r 发帖数: 1153 | 15 yeah, some LAG players play more than 30% of their hands, constantly put
pressure on their opponents etc. Lots of meta games going on. I like that. I
do miss the time back then when I watch TV and auto-pilot through 6-8
tables of limit games sometimes. Now I think of that, that's probably also
the reason why I never got really good at limit game too.

| c****u 发帖数: 3277 | 16 the basic idea of LAG is to make a lot of small mistakes and induce
opp's big mistakes. That's why the LAG style is very exploitable
by good players, because it's a poker mistake by itself. You win big
money by this style only because you induce huge stack size mistakes by opps.
That's why you sometimes see Phil Ivey can be insanely aggressive preflop
or on flop bets, but when the pot gets bigger, his game becomes very tough.
Also this style is based on good hand reading skills.
