发帖数: 2868 | 3 不差钱的话在southlake买房子，southlake&university park应该是dfw最有钱人住的
地方，没有之一. 不过那里的房子基本都要几个米，不是一般人能买得起的. 一般老中
都喜欢住在75以西，635以北，比如说plano,allen,frisco. 那边的学区也不错.
靠近fort worth这边, coppell, flower mound, keller&carrollton也都还可以. 房价
对于白领来说还算可以接受. 看着装修，地点不错的要差不多35万以上.
而且在dfw买房子，因为traffic的原因，要考虑地点. 上下班的时候635，75不是人走
的. 不过现在635好歹修完了，traffic比以前好一些.
最后要注意的是dfw这边买房子的地点和学区的划分还是有区别的. 你在irving买房子
不见得就上不了coppell的school. 买房子的时候要看房子具体属于哪片school
district. |

you don't pay state tax, so the property tax rate, relatively speaking, is
quiet high compare to other states, especially if you are want to buy in a
good school district. 3% is not uncommon. |

Southlake的房子没有你说的那么贵，太夸张，不会是agent吧？
上周刚去看回来。但是想买个差不多的房子至少60-70万开始吧。

base on the website above, apparently, southlake is cheaper than i thought.
but still, the median house price is over half million $. definitely not for
the average joe who makes $50k a yr.
IMO, lz, if you will be working close to fort worth, places like coppell,
keller, flower mound or even carrollton is worth considering. the housing
price in these areas is not as high as southlake, but the school district is
pretty decent.
but if you will be working in plano, frisco, allen or west of plano are not
bad choices.
in any case, avoid east of 75 and south of irving at all cost. |

whites, actually over 80% according to citydata.com. to me, i kinda want
some diversity.
honestly, lz, if you will be working near fort worth, coppell is a place you
should seriously consider. it is a middle upper class neighborhood, a
decent house in coppell will cost you over $400k. plus, it is more diverse
than southlake, which to me, is a plus. |

professionals一年apt的房租很多时候都到不了$20k/yr. 不过看下面的website

white是比较多，但这两年Asians长的超快，学校好，房价贵，买的主力都是Asians。

UPHP >> southlake > flower mound > plano,allen,frisco,coppell, richardson,
carrollton, etc...
UPHP是德州old money的老巢，和其他区域根本不是一个档次。
从收入不一定看得出来，（人现在不需要这个）看房价也要看zipcode:

至于lz的问题，还是要看工作地点在哪里，才能在附近找具体学校和房子，比较靠谱。

dfw地区最好的public school也不是世界末日.
刚才随便查了sabre inc的CEO, sabre是southlake地区最大的employer. 他们的ceo,
Tom klein, 是从villanova毕业的. 要在老中看来，上不了藤校，或者咱们texas的ut-
austin, college station或者rice那就是looser.
人一辈子长着呢，人生也不是说在高中毕业，大学毕业就结束了. 大学毕业，20多岁，
谁知道以后会发生什么. |

发帖数: 750 | 14 同感，现在在南湖逛街或是在公园玩耍中国人越来越多。一聊起来，都是近几年搬来的。
有眼光的应该考虑在南湖开一个中国超市或者地道的中国餐馆，绝对有市场。
另外南湖的房价60万以下的也有，只是要抢。

southlake住的非常舒服，有有钱人，也有一般中产阶级
前几年三四十万能买4bed，今年涨的快，但是五六十万也能买的到
前几年在南湖的costco基本满眼都是白人
去年开始，costco里满眼的亚裔，老印，越南，中国，韩国人乌漾乌漾的 |
