Let me start with a few questions firstJ
(Not in the speech: Answers ends with “!” below can be from the audience)
Is it a joke to kill all people of a certain race? Nope!
(Not in the speech, just in case, for those of you whose answer is yes, what
if it is your race?)
Is every one of us born with the right to live? Yes!
Should we kill our mortgage lender if we cannot pay it? Nope!
Have we had enough of TV violence? Yes!
Have we had enough of killing in campus? Yes!
Can we solve all our political and economic problems by killing investors of
our Treasury Bonds? Nope!
Btw those investors are NOT the reason why Washington is overspending.
Should we teach kids to love? Yes!
Should we teach kids individual responsibility? Yes!
Should we teach them to stop spending money they don’t have? Yes!
Where and how did our kids get the idea of killing someone to escape their
responsibilities? ABC Network!
Right. Some background info for those of you who haven’t heard about it
yet:
On October 16, 2013, comedian Jimmy Kimmel ran a segment on his show called
“Kids’ Table,” where he spoke with four children about various political
issues. When asked how to address our national debt owed to China, one of
the children suggested that the United States “kill everyone in China.”
The audience laughed and Mr. Kimmel acknowledged the comment with, “That’s
an interesting idea.” He brought the comment up one more time, asking “
Should we allow the Chinese to live?”, with the kid answering “Yes”,
before concluding the segment.
An ancient philosopher Lao Zi once said, “Watch your thoughts; they become
words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they
become habit. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character
; it becomes your destiny.
We all share an American dream with our founding fathers, a dream in which
we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,
that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that
among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. We all share an
American dream with all parents, a dream in which the next generation will
live a better life via hard work and individual responsibility, a dream in
which their world is full of love and no violence!
All of us can do something to help, right? Yes!
